Khi ấy, Philatô hỏi Chúa Giêsu rằng: "Ông có phải là Vua dân Do-thái không?" Chúa Giêsu đáp: "Quan tự ý nói thế, hay là có người khác nói với quan về tôi?"
Pilate said to Jesus,
"Are you the King of the Jews?"
Jesus answered, "Do you say this on your own
or have others told you about me?"

Pilatus ging wieder in das Prätorium hinein, ließ Jesus rufen und fragte ihn: Bist du der König der Juden?
Jesus antwortete: Sagst du das von dir aus, oder haben es dir andere über mich gesagt?

Philatô đáp: "Ta đâu phải là người Do-thái. Nhân dân ông cùng các thượng tế đã trao nộp ông cho ta. Ông đã làm gì?" Chúa Giêsu đáp: "Nước tôi không thuộc về thế gian này. Nếu nước tôi thuộc về thế gian này, thì những người của tôi đã chiến đấu để tôi không bị nộp cho người Do-thái, nhưng mà nước tôi không thuộc chốn này".
Pilate answered, "I am not a Jew, am I?
Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me.
What have you done?"
Jesus answered, "My kingdom does not belong to this world.
If my kingdom did belong to this world,
my attendants would be fighting
to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here."

Pilatus entgegnete: Bin ich denn ein Jude? Dein eigenes Volk und die Hohenpriester haben dich an mich ausgeliefert. Was hast du getan?
Jesus antwortete: Mein Königtum ist nicht von dieser Welt. Wenn es von dieser Welt wäre, würden meine Leute kämpfen, damit ich den Juden nicht ausgeliefert würde. Aber mein Königtum ist nicht von hier.

Philatô hỏi lại: "Vậy ông là Vua ư?" Chúa Giêsu đáp: "Quan nói đúng. Tôi là Vua. Tôi sinh ra và đến trong thế gian này là chỉ để làm chứng về Chân lý. Ai thuộc về Chân lý thì nghe tiếng Tôi".
So Pilate said to him, "Then you are a king?"
Jesus answered, "You say I am a king.
For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth.
Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice."

Pilatus sagte zu ihm: Also bist du doch ein König? Jesus antwortete: Du sagst es, ich bin ein König. Ich bin dazu geboren und dazu in die Welt gekommen, dass ich für die Wahrheit Zeugnis ablege. Jeder, der aus der Wahrheit ist, hört auf meine Stimme.
