PHÚC ÂM: Lc 18, 9-14

Khi ấy, Chúa Giêsu nói dụ ngôn sau đây với những ai hay tự hào mình là người công chính và hay khinh bỉ kẻ khác: "Có hai người lên đền thờ cầu nguyện, một người biệt phái, một người thu thuế.

English: He then addressed this parable to those who were convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else. "Two people went up to the temple area to pray; one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector.

German: Einigen, die von ihrer eigenen Gerechtigkeit überzeugt waren und die anderen verachteten, erzählte Jesus dieses Beispiel:
Zwei Männer gingen zum Tempel hinauf, um zu beten; der eine war ein Pharisäer, der andere ein Zöllner.
Người biệt phái đứng thẳng, cầu nguyện rằng: 'Lạy Chúa, tôi cảm tạ Chúa vì tôi không như các người khác: tham lam, bất công, ngoại tình, hay là như tên thu thuế kia; tôi ăn chay mỗi tuần hai lần và dâng một phần mười tất cả các hoa lợi của tôi'. Người thu thuế đứng xa xa, không dám ngước mắt lên trời, đấm ngực và nguyện rằng: 'Lạy Chúa, xin thương xót con là kẻ có tội'.

English: The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, 'O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity--greedy, dishonest, adulterous--or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.' But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, 'O God, be merciful to me a sinner.'

German: Der Pharisäer stellte sich hin und sprach leise dieses Gebet: Gott, ich danke dir, dass ich nicht wie die anderen Menschen bin, die Räuber, Betrüger, Ehebrecher oder auch wie dieser Zöllner dort.
Ich faste zweimal in der Woche und gebe dem Tempel den zehnten Teil meines ganzen Einkommens.
Der Zöllner aber blieb ganz hinten stehen und wagte nicht einmal, seine Augen zum Himmel zu erheben, sondern schlug sich an die Brust und betete: Gott, sei mir Sünder gnädig!
Ta bảo các ngươi: người này ra về được khỏi tội, còn người kia thì không. Vì tất cả những ai tự nâng mình lên, sẽ bị hạ xuống, và ai hạ mình xuống, sẽ được nâng lên".

English: I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted."
