Theo dự kiến sáng hôm nay11.7.2012 Đức TGM Leopoldo Girelli Đại Diện Tòa Thánh không thường trú tại Việt Nam, sẽ đặt chân tại Giáo Xứ Bến Dinh. Với buổi sáng sớm bầu trời mát mẻ,các em Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể và Bà Con trong Giáo Xứ đến rất sớm để chuẩn bị chào đón Đức Tổng Giám Mục Leopoldo Girelli và Đức Cha PhaoLô Bùi Văn Đọc cùng các Quý Cha của 2 Giáo Hạt Cù Lao Tây & Cao Lãnh thuộc tỉnh Đồng Tháp đến dâng Thánh Lễ Tại Giáo Xứ Bến Dinh.

Sáng ngày 11.07.2012, Cha Hạt Trưởng Giáo Hạt Cù Lao Tây Giuse Trương Hoàng Hân cùng với Cha Phó Hạt Trưởng I-nha-xi-ô Võ Viết Chuyên, đã hướng dẫn các Cha sở, Cha phó và giáo dân trong Giáo hạt mừng đón Đức Tổng Giám mục (TGM) Leopoldo Girelli là Sứ Thần Tòa Thánh tại Singapore, kiêm Khân Sứ Tòa Thánh tại Malaysia và Brunei, và là Đại Diện Tòa Thánh không thường trú tại Việt Nam. Đây là lần thứ 6 Đức TGM Leopoldo Girelli viếng thăm Giáo Hội Việt Nam, và là lần đầu tiên Ngài đến thăm Giáo Xứ Bến Dinh nói riêng và cộng đoàn dân Chúa trong tỉnh Đồng Tháp nói chung.

Sáng sớm ngày 11.07.2012. Đức TGM Leopoldo Girelli cùng với Đức Giám Mục Giáo Phận Mỹ Tho Phaolô Bùi Văn Đọc và phái đoàn viếng thăm Giáo Xứ bến Dinh, khi đi ngang qua Tp. Cao Lãnh thì các Đức TGM đã dừng chân tại Giáo Xứ Cao Lãnh và dùng điểm tâm sáng tại đó. Tiếp tục hành trình viếng thăm cộng đoàn dân Chúa. Đúng 09h00 Đức TGM và phái đoàn đi cùng đã đặt chân tới bến đò (Phà) An Long, tại đây có Cha An-Tôn Nguyễn Văn Tiến là Cha sở Giáo Xứ An Long đón chào và thuê một chiếc Phà riêng để đưa phái đoàn qua sông Tiền đến Cù Lao Tây. Mặc dù sông xa, chiếc Phà nhỏ bé nhưng Đức TGM không ngần ngại nguy hiểm mà còn hiên ngang, vững tin mà bước xuống Phà để tiến về cộng đoàn dân Chúa nơi xa xôi hẻo lánh,bên này sông có Cha Phó Hạt Trưởng I-nha-xi-ô Võ Viết Chuyên cùng với Giáo dân Giáo Xứ An-Rê chào đón và tháp tùng dẫn đưa Đức TGM đến Giáo Xứ Bến Dinh.

Từ bến đò An Long về đến Giáo Xứ Bến Dinh hơn 5 km, giáo dân treo những mãnh vãi đủ màu sắc rực rỡ để chào đón Đức TGM, càng ấm áp và hạnh phúc hơn khi Đức TGM vừa cặp bến đò thì giáo dân trong họ chào đón Ngài bằng cả một đoàn xe Hon Đa. Vào lúc 9 giờ 30 phút thì Đức TGM Leopoldo Girelli, vị Đại Diện tòa Thánh không thường trú tại Việt Nam, đã đặt chân trước cổng Giáo Xứ Bến Dinh thuộc Giáo Phận Mỹ Tho. Các em thiếu nhi Thánh Thể của Giáo Xứ tập trung hơn 350 em và xếp thành hai hàng để chào đón Đức TGM. Nhìn khuôn mặt hân hoan chào đón Đức TGM của các em thật dể thương và đáng yêu: Áo trắng đồng phục đeo khăn thiếu nhi Thánh Thể, đầu đội nón màu vàng, tay cầm sí bùm bum tung hứng.
Bước đi giữa hai hàng thiếu nhi Thánh Thể, Đức TGM Leopoldo Girelli tươi cười hớn hỡ và vẫy tay thân chào mọi người, mọi người vỗ tay reo mừng trong tiếng trống kèn dồn dập của Cha sở giáo xứ Fatima Hen-ry Nguyễn Văn Ký. Tất cả mọi người vừa nhìn thấy Ngài thì ùa nhau chen lấn đển để được nhìn thấy Ngài, có người vì quá mến yêu nên vượt qua hàng rào các em thiếu nhi Thánh Thể để được chạm tay vào người Của Ngài với ước nguyện trong lòng muốn được giải thoát. Đi đến cuối hàng rào Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể là Thánh Đường Thánh Gia, tai đây Ngài và Đức Cha Phao Lô cùng với phái đoàn viếng Chúa sau đó Ngài gặp gỡ các Cha, Tu sĩ và toàn thể cộng đoàn dân Chúa. Ngài cảm ơn mọi người tụ họp lại đây rất đông, Ngài mời gọi mọi người sống theo gương yêu thương của Chúa và Ngài chúc phúc cho công việc lẫn mùa màng.

Sau buổi gặp gở thì Đức TGM đi về nhà xứ để chuẩn bị nghi thức làm phép tượng Đài Đức Mẹ và dâng thánh lễ đồng tế tại Lễ Đài. Đúng 10 giờ, Thánh lễ đồng tế bắt đầu với nghi thức làm phép Tượng Đài Đức Mẹ Tà Pao Tượng đài cao 3,4 m tính từ chân đến đầu, toàn bộ Lễ Đài có chu vi 100m vuông và mặt nền cao 1,7m. Đức TGM chủ sự Thánh lễ, đồng tế với ngài có Đức Cha Phaolô, Cha Tổng Đại Diện Phaolô, Đức Ông Phêrô,2 Cha Hạt Trưởng Cao Lãnh và Cù Lao Tâyvà 39 linh mục và một số Nữ Tu dòng Chúa Quan Phòng cùng với quý Thầy Đại Chủng Viện Thánh Giu Se sài Gòn thuộc Tĩnh Đồng Tháp,giáo dân trong và ngoài 2 giáo hạt Cù Lao Tây và giáo hạt Cao Lãnh còn có giáo dân thuộc giáp phận Long Xuyên đến tham dự với nhiều ước lượng là hơn 10.000 người. Lợi dụng diệp giáo dân đi tham dự thánh lễ đông đảo có nhiều kẻ xấu trà trộn vào, kết quả là phát hiện và bắt được 2 đối tượng giật dây chuyền và 1 đối tượng móc túi. Quả thật, đây là nơi tôn nghiêm, Thiên Chúa và Mẹ Maria không cho phép kẻ xấu ngang nhiên và tùy ý muốn. qua 3 vụ việc này làm cho cộng đoàn dân Chúa đặt thêm niềm tin vào thiên Chúa hơn và thêm lòng quyết tâm sống đạo và thực thi Thánh Ý Chúa mõi ngày càng mạnh mẽ.

Nội dung của bài giảng, Đức TGM đã ca ngợi mãnh đất Cù Lao Tây thật hạnh phúc vì được nhiều ơn gọi, Ngài nhắc đến 12 Thánh Tông Đồ là trọng tâm, theo sau là giáo hội mà Chúa Giê-su đã thành lập và muốn chúng ta biết chương trình cứu đô của Chúa qua sự hy sinh trên Thánh Giá, Người là đầu và chúng ta là chi thể của Người. Sau thành lễ Đức TGM nhắc đến “nước” trên con sông mà Ngài đã đi ngang, làm Ngài nhớ đến Bí Tích Rửa Tội, Ngài nói “ chính nhờ dòng nước anh em mới được thanh tẩy, anh em đã hòa mình vào dòng nước ấy”.

Sau bài giảng, có 4 giáo dân đại diện cho cộng đoàn xướng các lời nguyện chung. Rồi Thánh lễ tiếp tục như thường lệ với phần Phụng vụ Thánh Thể. Đặc biệt, trong lời chào của Kinh Tiền Tụng và lời chào trước khi chúc bình an thì Đức TGM Leopoldo Girelli đọc bằng tiếng Việt. Các phần còn lại thì Đức Cha Phaolô cử hành.

Sau lời nguyện Hiệp lễ,chủ tịch ban Mục Vụ hội Đồng giáo xứ đại diện cho giáo dân Giáo xứ Bến Dinh nói riêng và 2 Giáo Hạt nói chung một Vị Đại Diện cho cộng đoàn dân Chúa trong tỉnh Đồng Tháp tri ân Đức TGM với những tâm tình đơn sơ nhưng thật chân thành và sâu sắc của người dân vùng đồng bằng sông Cửu Long. Sau những lời cám ơn của Vị Đại Diện, hai bạn trẻ mang hoa và quà dâng cho Đức TGM. Món quà được mở ra ngay cho thấy một bức tranh thêu rất đẹp diễn tả một cảnh đồng quê đặc trưng Nam Bộ.

Đức TGM bài tỏa tấm lòng vì hai món quà của cộng đoàn dân Chúa kính dâng lên Ngài, sau đó Ngài thay mặt Đức Thánh Cha ban phép lành Tòa Thánh cho mọi người và chụp hình lưu niệm cho đến 12 giờ thì ngài mới dùng cơm trưa cùng Đức Cha và Quý Cha với niềm vui vẽ và thân mặt.

(Trích nguồn bài viết LM. Giuse Nguyễn Tuấn Hải và Têrêsa Mai An ) Sau cơm trưa, Đức Giám Mục Giáo phận trở về Tòa Giám Mục vào lúc 13g00. Trên đường về, Đức TGM và phái đoàn tiện ghé thăm vài nhà thờ như: Thánh Anrê và Tân Quới gần nhà thờ Bến Dinh; nhà thờ An Long và Tân An thuộc Hạt Cao Lãnh.
Đức TGM và phái đoàn về đến Tòa Giám mục vào lúc 18g30 kết thúc ngày viếng thăm mục vụ tỉnh Đồng Tháp. Đức TGM ăn tối cùng Đức Cha Phaolô và quí Cha tại Tòa Giám mục Mỹ Tho rất ấm áp, thân tình và vui vẻ.
